Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Chemistry AI mobile application and the chem-solver.com website (together, the "Service").

1. Who we are

The Service is operated by Individual Entrepreneur (ФОП) Bohdan Oleksa, registered in Ukraine, registration number (РНОКПП) 3537705271, with a registered address at Sonyachna 29, Lesniky village, 08172, Ukraine ("we", "us"). Contact: support@chem-solver.com.

2. The Service

Chemistry AI lets you photograph chemistry problems and receive AI-generated, step-by-step solutions and explanations, alongside supporting tools such as a periodic table reference and solve history. Solutions are generated by artificial intelligence and are provided for learning support. While we work to make them accurate, we do not guarantee that every solution is correct — always verify results that matter, and use the Service in accordance with your school's academic-integrity rules.

3. License and acceptable use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control. You agree not to:

5. Purchases via Apple and via our website

In-app purchases are processed by Apple. They are governed by Apple's terms; manage or cancel them in your App Store account settings, and request refunds from Apple.

Web purchases made on this website are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle"), our merchant of record. Paddle is the seller of record: it handles checkout, billing, applicable taxes, invoices, and refunds for web purchases, and Paddle's Buyer Terms apply to those transactions in addition to these Terms. Manage web subscriptions through the link in your order confirmation email or by contacting us.

6. Refunds

Refunds for web purchases are described in our Refund Policy. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and content (excluding your photos), is owned by us or our licensors. You retain rights to the photos you submit; you grant us a limited license to process them solely to provide the Service.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including consumer rights that apply in your country of residence.

9. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms. Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund past periods except as described in the Refund Policy or required by law.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this website; continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live. Disputes will be resolved by the competent courts unless applicable law provides otherwise.

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Chemistry AI handles and why. Short version: no account is required, photos are used only to solve your problem, and we never sell your data.

2. What we process and why

Photos and problem content

Photos you capture and any instructions you type are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate the solution. They are used only for that purpose. Solutions and problem images are also stored locally on your device in your solve history; deleting history in the app removes them from your device.

Personalization answers

Your answers to the onboarding questions (e.g. course level, topics, explanation style) are stored on your device and used to tailor explanations.

Usage analytics and crash data

We use Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics) to understand aggregate usage and fix crashes. Analytics events contain no personal content — never your photos or solutions.

Subscription status

We use Adapty to manage subscription entitlements, and Apple or Paddle process payments. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

4. Service providers

Data is shared only with processors necessary to run the Service: OpenAI (solution generation), Google Firebase (analytics and crash reporting), Adapty (subscription management), Apple (in-app payments), and Paddle (web payments, as merchant of record). Each processes data under its own privacy terms and our instructions.

5. Retention

Solve history lives on your device until you delete it (the app keeps up to 100 recent solves). Analytics data is retained per Firebase's standard retention settings. Payment records are retained by Apple or Paddle as required by law.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. To exercise them, email support@chem-solver.com. You can also delete all locally stored data by deleting the app.

7. Children

The Service is intended for students. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) beyond what is technically necessary to operate the app. If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Purchases made on this website

Web purchases come with a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you're not satisfied for any reason, contact us at support@chem-solver.com within 14 days of the charge and we'll refund it in full — no questions asked.

Web payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd, our merchant of record. Refunds are issued by Paddle to your original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 business days. You can also reach Paddle's buyer support directly via the link in your order confirmation email.

Free trials

If your plan includes a free trial, cancel before the trial ends and you will not be charged at all. We send a reminder before the trial converts.

Cancelling a subscription

Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro access until the end of the period you already paid for. Cancel web subscriptions via the link in your order confirmation email or by emailing support. Cancellation alone does not trigger a refund for the current period — request one within the 14-day window above.

Purchases made in the iOS app

Subscriptions purchased inside the app are billed by Apple, and Apple handles their refunds under its own policy. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, and manage or cancel the subscription in your App Store account settings. We are unable to issue refunds for Apple-billed purchases ourselves.

Statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable refund or withdrawal rights you have under the consumer-protection law of your country of residence.
